ARDI Direktörü ve Kurucu Ortağı Razan Shalab AlSham, 26 Ağustos 2018'de Almanya'nın Dresden kentinde düzenlenen TEDx Dresden etkinliğine onursal konuşmacı olarak seçildi. Bir Suriyeli aktivist ve kalkınma uzmanı olarak kendi kişisel deneyimlerinden bahseden Razan'ın  “Güven ve Güçlendirme Yoluyla Değişiklik Yapan Kadınlar” başlıklı konuşması, savaşın dehşetine, Suriyelilerin kendi ülkeleri içinde ve dışında karşılaştıkları zorluklara, Suriyelilerin önderliğinde kadınların başını çektiği müthiş çabalara ışık tutuyor, umut ve barış mesajı ile son buluyor. Let’s Unite and Raise Voice Against Torture!According to #HumanRights Law, torture is defined as any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether #physical or #mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person in which a public official is directly or indirectly involved for a specific reason. Torturers are seen as the ‘enemy of all mankind'. It is considered so barbaric and incompatible with a civilized society that it cannot be tolerated. Torture is a crime under international law. However, there is a countless number of people who are at this very moment facing some sort of torture that is both physical and psychological in nature. Torture diminishes everyone and everything that it touches, including torturers and the systems and states where it occurs. Torturers must never be allowed to get away with their crimes, and systems that enable torture should be dismantled or transformed. ARDI works directly with Syrians who have experienced forms of torture under the hands of the oppressive Regime, which have caused horrific suffering and long-term consequences to survivor’s mental and physical wellbeing. In Syria, many women, men, and youth are detained for arbitrary offenses or fictional crimes. Detention, for many people, includes forms of torture and sexual violence. For survivors of torture, reintegration back into their communities and families can be a difficult process. For women who have experienced sexual violence as a form of torture, some report facing the additional burden of being shunned from their family or community once they are released or they escape. With more education and a growing number of organizations working to support survivors of torture, hopefully, survivors will get the support and care they need to still live full lives after enduring horrific crimes. June 26th is International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, which aims to spread awareness among the people about the issue and impacts of human torture, which is not only unacceptable but it is also an international crime against humanity. #ARDI invites people of all backgrounds and locations to raise voices against torture, share stories of survivors with others, and speak about their experiences to help tackle the silence around torture and brings its ongoing pervasiveness to light. Together we must work side by side to stand up to human rights violations. To learn more about ARDI, please visit our website at: www.atlasrdi.com ... See MoreSee Less

On 26 May, #ARDI and #HAYAT Syrian Women’s Collective hosted the first of three Community Network Meetings to provide the opportunity for the members of HAYAT to share the unique activities they are leading to address three core issues that exacerbate insecurity among refugee communities in #Istanbul. ARDI invited civil society leaders, local activists, governmental officials, international organizational representatives, academics, and members of the media from the local and international community to attend and participate.During the meeting, the members of the Hayat Women's Collective presented their efforts and previous activities related to their projects. Some key activities included that the HAYAT women-led so far include: A community-based survey that helped highlight the main needs and challenges of Syrian #refugees in Istanbul, a resource tool that was developed to help connect Syrian refugees with available resources and services available in Istanbul; a range of thematic webinars that were designed and hosted by the women, a series of awareness-raising interviews focusing on the real stories and experiences of local refugees, and a photography contest aimed at amplifying the voices, experiences, and vantage points of diverse Syrians living in Istanbul. The HAYAT Women’s Collective also worked in small teams to design community-based projects centered around the project’s three core focus areas that will be funded/supported by ARDI during Phase 2 of the project. The attendees were much engaged and interested to learn about the activities led by the HAYAT Syrian Women’s Collective and they also participated actively in a discussion around the thematic focus areas covered by HAYAT’s small projects. The HAYAT Women benefited from the opportunity to share their achievements and showcase their upcoming initiatives, network with a wide range of attendees, and learn from the attendees’ own efforts on the ground that were relevant to the refugee community in Istanbul.ARDI and the HAYAT Syrian Women’s Collective are very grateful for this beneficial meeting and look forward to meeting the people from local and international communities again soon during the next Community Network Meeting! To learn more about ARDI, please visit our website at: www.atlasrdi.com#event #communitymatters #womenempowerment #أرضي #zoommeeting #development ...
